This century-plus pattern has a deeply curving handle reminiscent of a sow’s belly, which is where it takes its name. A favorite collector’s piece, the Sowbelly is a cousin to the Cattleman and Stockman patterns and typically has clip, sheepfoot, and spey blades. This version comes with smooth Mediterranean Blue bone covers, polished Tru-Sharp blades and polished nickel silver bolsters.
Brand new directly from W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co.
Blades: The Tru-Sharp stainless-steel blades come finished in a bright polish satin and are each equipped with a generous nail nick for opening. This version comes with the traditional Trio: a long clip point main blade, with a spey and sheepsfoot blade as backup. All three come with a shallow hollow grind for optimal slicing performance.
Handle:Â Polished Nickel Silver bolsters frame smooth Mediterranean Blue Bone covers for a classic and stylish look. A traditional material, polished bone has good durability and weather resistance with timeless appeal. The sturdy back springs deliver simple, smooth slip joint operation. The front handle sports a pewter Case Oval shield.
Case Tru-Sharp:Â Case Tru-Sharp is another name for 420HC, a stainless steel that provides excellent rust resistance, ease of re-sharpening and moderate edge retention while being exceptionally tough for a stainless steel. With appropriate heat treatment, it is said to preform similarly to VG-10 in wear resistance.
