Comfortable in-hand and ready for hard use this “Black and Gold” version features a black PVD coated S45VN blade and titanium handles with deep, elaborate Gold Laser anodized engravings: Saint Michael the Archangel depicted on the front and “Defend Us In Battle” on the back with matching black and bronze details.
Brand new, direct from Spartan Blades, USA.
Blade:Â A classic, utilitarian drop point blade is made from CPM-S45VN with a top swedge and high saber grind for balanced performance and durability. Durable black PVD coating on the blade hides wear, resists corrosion and is discreetly non-reflective. Riding on reliable bronze washers the blade deploys fast and smooth via dual bronze titanium thumb studs. Aggressive jimping on the thumb ramp offers added traction and a point for indexing.
Handle: Â Ergonomic handles have been constructed from black PVD coated 6AL4V titanium with deep, gold laser engraved graphics along with a Spartan engraved clip insert. Anodized titanium barrel spacers, handle screws and custom pivot complete the construction. The back titanium slab forms an integral frame lock mechanism for reliable lock-up in hard use conditions with oversized pivot lock bar stabilizer.
Carries via a reversible titanium Spartan Arrow pocket clip.
CPM S45VN:Â An evolution in the S30-series of steels from Crucible, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN a slight reduction in toughness. Also considered an upgrade to Elmax with similar edge retention but better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and a finer carbide structure (better sharpness).
